Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is a system of yoga introduced by Yogi Swatmarama, a yogic sage in the 15th century in India. This particular system of yoga is the most popular one, and it is from which several other styles of yoga originated. The
word "hatha" comes from the Sanskrit terms "ha" meaning "sun" and "tha" meaning "moon". Thus, Hatha Yoga is known as the branch of Yoga that unites pairs of opposites.
Hatha Yoga tries to achieve balance between body and mind, as well as attempts to free the more subtle spiritual elements of the mind through physical poses or Asanas (body positions), Pranayama (breathing techniques), and Meditation.

The Five Rhythms

Created by Gabrielle Roth the 5Rhythms comprise a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in everybody, no matter what its shape, size, age, limitations and experience. To find your dance is to find yourself, at your most fluid and creative level.

The five sacred rhythms are flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. They make up the whole of our experience and can be seen reflected in every genuine action and emotion we undergo. They therefore need to be evoked and acted out in order to bring them into conscious awareness. They come together to create the Wave, a movement meditation practice. Each rhythm is a different energy field in which you find your own expression and choreography. Each rhythm is a teacher and you can expect to meet different and sometimes unknown aspects of yourself as your dance unfolds and your practice of the rhythms deepens over time.

Callanetics

Callanetics exercises are the product of Callan Pinckney, who created them to combat her own severe back and knee problems. She discovered that not only did the exercises completely alleviate her own back and knee pain, they
also completely reshaped and toned her body.
By isolating muscle groups and using tiny, precise movements, Callanetics exercises tighten and reshape your body while increasing strength and flexibility. Deep muscle work, no bouncing, safe excercising, non-impact.
Sue, who will be teaching this class, highly recommends this class to people from 40 years on.
