We live in Hoekwil, on the famous Garden Route of South Africa. Between the desert and the deep blue sea. We live in stunning surroundings: Lagoons, Lakes, Rivers, Waterfalls, Forests, Mountains and of course the wonderful beaches of the Indian Ocean. You’ll get lots of fresh air, a nice tan, lots of sleep. Hoekwil is a small village surrounded by farm land with horses and cows. Just around the corner is the Hoekwil Café, the village shop, a post office, a second hand store for clothing and one for furniture. There’s even a newly opened restaurant serving Asian dishes.

The nature is beautiful out here: there’s a wide diversity of trees (there’s a BIG tree very close to us), plants, flowers, birds, dolphins, whales and monkeys… there are also sharks, leopards, snakes and spiders. Some you see more often than others. You can spend your time relaxing, reading a book in the garden, drinking good South African vino and eating lekker braaivleis. But you can do lots of active things here as well, like hiking, swimming, kloofing, canoeing, abseiling, fishing, cycling, horse riding, surfing, diving, sailing, golfing…

The Wilderness area is the perfect place to choose as a base, it’s safe, it’s clean, it’s got a weekly farmer’s market with fresh produce, it’s a great place for kids.

You can do a lot of attractive day tours. Summer and main season is Nov-Jan. Winter is in June-August. Our personal favourite months are March and April. The waves are better in winter. Do you need a good holistic doctor, a massage or any other kind of alternative health treatment? Perhaps you have a hankering for the amazing local Feta or cheese cake, or maybe you want to go riding, or go on a muti tour (mutis are traditional medicinal herbs)… we’ll hook you up with the best locals, moenie worry nie!
